Tampa Navy Week

Welcome to the 2008 Tampa Navy Week!

From January 19th-26th, the U.S. Navy will conduct a series of exciting events in Tampa and the surrounding communities as part of Tampa Navy Week in conjunction with the 2008 Gasparilla Pirate Festival.

The U.S. Navy’s various missions demand highly technical and critical skill sets from its Sailors. Some examples of the jobs Sailors execute every day are showcased during these eight days, including the Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Parachute Team, F/A-18 Fighter Jet Flight Simulator multi-person ride, Navy Band Southeast – with special guest performer, American Idol Finalist and Navy Musician, Phil Stacey – and a port visit by the Sailors from the guided missile frigate USS TAYLOR (FFG 50).

The purpose of the 3rd annual Tampa Navy Week is to increase Navy awareness and strengthen the rich and diverse relationship between the Tampa community and the United States Navy.

Tampa Navy Week is one of 26 coordinated events by Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) for 2008. Navy Weeks provide heartland communities opportunities to meet Fleet Sailors and learn first-hand about the latest capabilities and opportunities in the U.S. Navy.
